Wholesale Ready

It’s no surprise that small farmers and wholesale buyers lack a clear path to do business together. The result? Growers hoping to diversify or expand to new markets come up short, while high volume buyers with goals of supporting local settle for the status quo.

Thanks to a USDA grant, REAP Food Group is doing what we do best: connecting farmers with buyers. Here, wholesale ready producers and institutional buyers can “talk” to one another and act on potential partnerships to increase local purchasing. Visit the marketplace using the button below.

There’s nothing to lose, only gain.

Help us build a vibrant marketplace by letting us know what works, what can evolve, and what goes straight into the compost heap.

Short-term Goals

  • Small and mid-sized farmers can find footing in the wholesale marketplace with ease and confidence.

  • Wholesale buyers–restaurants, grocery stores, anchor institutions, and more–can tap into the rich local foodshed with the assurance that their sources are prepared to meet their needs.

Long-term Goals

  • A finely tuned machine will look like a bustling marketplace where informed farmers scale their capacity to serve consistent, high-volume buyers, and buyers increase their purchase of local, nutritious ingredients thanks to confidence in the system.

  •  Our platform serves as a model for other growing regions

When the CARES Act doled out over $25 million to Dane County in 2020 towards the purchase of food from local farms and producers, many small- and mid-sized sustainable farms missed out because there wasn’t a good way to identify them as ready to sell.

The Wholesale Readiness Marketplace aims to fix that by combining the forces of a 1) comprehensive producer and buyer listing, and 2) a virtual marketplace that’s easy to use. Farmers can list by geography, inventory, seasonality, delivery capacity, food safety certification, and more, so that buyers can narrow down searches and connect directly.

Your time is valuable, so make more (meaningful connections), faster.
